Ghost Caught on Camera in Old Bulacan House

In an old house in Bulacan province that supposedly has ghosts (according to previous residents), this apparition was captured at night by a Samsung dual LCD digital camera. It looks like reflected light, but no items inside the room have been established as a source of reflections that could have created the image. The figure appears to have a long-sleeved shirt, like a traditional Filipino barong tagalog, although there is no indication of a lower body or even a head. This shirt apparition was not visible as the area was being photographed. In another snapshot of the same staircase (left), an orb is visible (double-click to enlarge). Could the two be possibly connected?

BONUS PIC FROM AUSTRALIA!
At left is a picture sent in by Stephanie Findley of Australia. It's a photo of what appears to be a pair of orbs. According to Findley, a "ghost" often shows up in digital pictures taken inside her home. She says the ghost also appears in other rooms. Ruling out the reflections on the wall, she has no explanation for the two orbs. Two gifted ladies told her that the spirit of a young girl roams the house!

The ghost in the old Bulacan house may actually be just a friendly ghost. It may not show it's face, but here is a ghost face that's familiar to a lot of people! It's Casper, the friendly ghost, and he's on a t-shirt! Click here or on the image to order this great product!

Brownie House Sprite Leaves Foot Marks on Walls

In this house in the Philippines, a few strange things have happened since the new occupants have moved in. Mysterious foot marks have appeared on the freshly-painted walls. They appear to have been made overnight while people are sound asleep. The marks were initially thought to have been made by kids with dirty hands and feet and were promptly cleaned. But when the marks continued to appear overnight and a presence was felt in the house (even when there were no kids around), it became obvious there was something supernatural going on. Most of the marks showed what appeared to be toes, but only three of them were obvious.

It was thought the muddy visitor was an ogre, or kapre in local terminology. Kapre in the Philippines tower two storeys high and smoke a big cigar that never goes out. They do not appear clean and are hairy. Some (or the same one) have been seen in the area by those who could "see things." Later, based on a consultation with a local medium and healer or albularyo, the house was not visited by a kapre, but instead was inhabited, or frequented, by two playful nature entities or elementals (earth) that were as small as and looked like kids.

According to the mystic, unlike the kapre, which can be difficult to drive away, these little beings can be reasoned with and are actually lucky in a household. Those who went for the consultation forgot what these entities were called by the mystic. After a bit of research online, the house occupants concluded that the little elementals were brownies.

In European folklore, brownies are three-foot-tall, hairy house sprites with simple nostrils for noses, that adopt families and do household chores at night. They can eat food that's left for them although they may resent it if the food is offered to them in return for doing chores in the house. They also do not like it if there is too much food. They do not like to be seen and it is said that if they are provided with clothing, they will leave the house forever. In the Harry Potter series, there's this house sprite called Dobby (left; promotional image) who was set free from servitude after Harry tricked him into accepting a sock. Now this is debatable. It is not clear if brownies leave an abode because they are set free by a gift of clothing, or they leave because they feel insulted by the gift (they do prefer to wear dirty rags, hence the name "brownie"). If they are mistreated, brownies supposedly turn into boggarts, which are mean and mischievous.

Having read about brownies (left; drawing from Wikipedia), the occupants decided to try an experiment and left an item of food on the table one night. It was just little one piece of chicharon, or puffed pork skin in a plastic packet. A pair of scissors was placed over the packet. In the morning, the chicharon and packet were gone and the scissors placed on a table mat. There were only two people in the house that time, and neither of them took the chicharon. Was it the brownies that took the food? Who knows. Maybe the brownies simply preferred some types of food over others. They are said to have a taste for honey, milk, cream and porridge. Other food left on the table the next night was untouched and no chores were inexplicably done overnight. Perhaps they left.

Ghost Hunting in an Old House in Bicol Reveals Orbs and a Mysterious Light

There's an ancestral house in the Bicol province that's been abandoned. It's over a hundred years old and is already decaying in spite of countless renovations and shoring up. It's days are numbered and may be demolished soon. But in its heyday, the old house likely glowed and was level with the road beside it. But now that the highway has been concreted and overlaid several times, it's sunken down to two meters below road-level and parts of it likely flood in the monsoon season. The moisture has caused the wood to rot quickly, so it's remained empty and shut for years.

Those who used to stay in the ancestral house as kids told of scary things that have happened to them. One recounted how a looming back shadow woke him from sleep; another told of smelling her departed grandmother's perfume while playing in a room. But those were just tales; if the house was really haunted, we needed proof. So my friends and I decided to go on an impromptu ghost hunt using nothing more than a digital camera and a flashlight. For privacy, the exact location of the house and the names of the owners are withheld.

The house has two storeys, but we had access to only the first floor. We were lucky to be given permission to explore the house since the owner thought it was dangerous to enter it with rotting floorboards and all. The steps going upstairs were already giving way. We were very careful inside. It was really dark and the single flashlight hardly revealed much.Note that the shiny dots on the door in the photo on the left are reflections from a Fengshui ornament.

I took photos of an open window (top; left). I was hoping to catch something there — like a ghost looking out to see who the curious visitors were — but I didn't see anything. The interior of the first floor also didn't reveal anything. After several photographs, we went out.

Later, we would see that our pictures did catch a few things. There were obviously orbs of light in some of them. In the picture at the top, a strange ray of light comes down from the ceiling at an angle (left; it's just above the horizontal beam near the ceiling). The light seems to be pointing to something near the far wall where an eye-like orb is keeping watch! Note that the ceiling beam has an inscription, which reads completely as: UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT! (below are two versions of the same cropped image; the one above has normal contrast while the other is enhanced). What appears to be a string of orbs in the foreground is likely from a cobweb or plastic string. Simply click on the image to view it in detail.

We didn't bother to go back in the house and rummage through the dusty clutter to see if there's anything to find where the mysterious ray of light and eye-like orb (left) pointed to. One of my exploring companions wasn't really that keen anymore to explore any further. He suggested that we back off else the spirits get annoyed by our presence or get too attached to us. Anyway, if there's really something to be unearthed in that old house, it was none of our business. It may be wise just to leave it buried and undiscovered.
