Supernatural Mojo Store in Boracay Island

Here is a small mojo store in Boracay Island situated along world-famous White Beach. The stuff sold and displayed here appear to be charms which come from different places in the Philippines and abroad. For instance, many of the wooden statues on display are likely from the Northern mountain regions of the Philippines like Baguio. They are called anito and they represent either ancestral spirits or granary gods.

If you're into lucky charms and other scary stuff, then the items in this store should be of interest to you. It's hard to say what the items shown in the pictures are for. But you can see what appears to be a dream catcher in one of the pictures (top); there are also monkey skulls, which, in some cultures, are considered lucky. Sometimes, they are used to cast spells - for good or otherwise.

Boracay island is just off the northern tip of Panay island in the Philippines, where it is said, many residents practice a local form of witchcraft and where monsters like aswangs and manananggals roam at night looking for victims. The aswang is supposed to be like a werewolf that can shape-shift into a large dog through the application of a magical balm on the skin; the manananggal on the other hand, is a woman who can separate her upper body from her torso when she goes off in search of fresh, young human meat. Could there be charms in this store that will help protect you from such supernatural creatures? Could there be charms here that can turn you into an aswang? Perhaps they are just ordinary trinkets with no otherworldly powers at all? There's only one way to find out!

A Ghost in a Necktie Appears for a Wedding in Bicol

Do you like ghost stories? Here's one about a picture of ghost before a wedding.

You know how weddings are often RSVP? When a guest that's not on the list appears, a little adjustment is usually needed to accommodate the person. Just give him or her a place at the reception and everything's fine. But what if it's a ghost that pays you a visit before the day of the wedding? When pictures of ghost show up, its either you get scared or shrug it away like it's nothing.

A few days before the wedding of a friend (he's the happy guy in the picture) in Bicol, The Philippines, pictures were casually taken inside the house. In the picture above, the groom poses near the dining area and behind him can be seen the bathroom door and part of the kitchen. Nothing seemed wrong with the picture until it was uploaded into a laptop. Zooming in revealed what appeared to be glowing orbs of light. In the top picture, you can see that there's a bright one on the left, beside the electric fan, and another on the upper right side. The orbs may be just digital image artifacts, but the human form with them is likely not.

I didn't know what those balls of light were. All I know is that they are said to be either manifestations of spirits or image artifacts caused by light reflecting off particles near the camera lens. Other pictures taken on that same day revealed other orbs and strange wisps of light. They were mysterious, but one of the most jaw dropping discovery of all was this strange smoky, ghostly figure just over the left shoulder of the groom. Magnifying it revealed what appeared to be the head and torso of a man. It seemed to be wearing a necktie! I have no idea how pictures of ghost would look like when they appear, but the image definitely looked like that of a ghost to me.

Later, I uploaded the scary ghost photo into my computer and saved copies of the ghost with enhanced contrast, color, and texture. The results were astonishing! The enhanced ghost photos are presented here for readers of this blog to ponder on. The picture on top is the original one. You can see the faint figure in the background (over the left shoulder of the subject) as if unobtrusively watching in a corner. The next picture, where the ghost is more distinct, has had the contrast enhanced. The other images on the left show the ghost with enhanced imaging features to see if more details can be teased out of the photo.

The ghost appears to be that of a man, but because of the vague quality of the image, there was no way to positively associate it with a real person. Interestingly, the groom's father had recently passed away four months earlier. So what is in the picture? Is it really a ghost in photos? Is it a simple reflection on the wall? Is it just a play of light? We can only wonder and surmise. But it's perfect for my pictures of ghost and ghost stories collection.
